Hi there.

Anybody would be interested in making a small BASIC demo for unexpanded ZX81?

Probably it would be something in style of this compo http://zx81.republika.pl/ I made in 2007.
So it's really time for something new.

And maybe some coding this time?

I'm a very crap coder, so my "demo" is shitty.
But I still love coding on ZX81, so I made one too.

At the moment, for now, we have 2 entries.

I put them on the Net to show You what we are talking about.

The demo must work on unexpanded ZX81 and should be written in BASIC.
Would be nice if the prog start itself (but if it's a problem then it doesn't have to).

You can submit more then one demo.
But no multiloading. At least this time.
So - no many parts loading one by one. Only 'one-part' demo.

You can safely enter the site.
That's the comparison then. I think the compo site will look similar to this one, supposedly on the sam address (but with menu).

Mine is crap but Johny's work is incredible indeed, hahaha.

Well, it was my first attempt to make a 1Kb prog for 1Kb machine.
I didn't realized about a half of problems related with it.

Moreover I decided this year make a coding compo instead of GFX.
The only condition - BASIC.

It may be a mistake from my side but only in this case works will be on come comparable level, if You know what I mean.

Anyway, I hope people write some 1K demo progs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want to participate, but I have to be honest. It's going to be a ZX Spectrum simple demo and people are going to try and help me convert it to the ZX81. I don't know ZX81 BASIC. I tried to do something yesterday, but couldn't even get the symbols and keywords right. But I'll have something to show. That's a promise!

Btw, the extended mode in ZX81 is really pretty strange because You have to press SHIFT+ENTER.

Doesn't work on emul (I'm at wotk, at the moment). I will check it out in the evening.
Does it require any hardware midifications?

Anyway it's not i BASIC, so cannot "compete".

No

The main work (drawing circles) is done by a BASIC program. Only some"little" tools (HIRES-driver, HIRES-plot-Function) is done in machine code.

Hehe, still machine code used. ; )
Although if the machine code is written in basic interpreter, then it's still basic for me. So it could be - if it was new.
But it was released in 1996, hehe.


Btw - more than one work from an author is allowed!!!!
