Mec-Co-Op Mail - get paid for advertising emails sent to you

During the dot.com boom of the 1990s,  a lot of companies were set up which offered free internet access and free email.  Many of these companies soon ran out of funding and folded, leaving users with only a small amount of choice if they did not wanted free email accounts (mainly email services run by MSN and Yahoo).  However, there are now several websites which pay small amounts of cash for you receiving advertising emails from them and clicking on the adverts - these are known as Pay To Click (PTC) or Pay To Read (PTR) schemes.  These schemes are fairly good, although the amount you need to earn in order to receive cash can be quite high - however, if you use the cash for advertising your own websites (or other schemes for which you are an affiliate), this can work quite cheaply - for example, providing you with 1000 clicks onto a website for $1.30.

One of the other options which we have looked at is zWallet who provide you with your own email account and promise to share advertising revenue for every email which you send or receive.  It does, however, remain to be seen as to whether they actually make any payments to members, since there is quite a bit of negative feedback in circulation and they do not seem to respond to emails.  We have also found (along with many others) that although the system appeared to work quite well to start with, our email account was cancelled without notice and for no reason after several months of use (we had only earned $1.52).

With payment being made only when your account exceeds $20 and can be made by cheque or direct to a PayPal account, we cannot advise anyone to use zWallet.

Paid To Read (PTR) Schemes

There are several PTR schemes which we have tried and which all provide a high volume of emails for you to read and opportunities to earn cash through clicking on the links within the emails to the advertised website.  Some have good reputations, whilst others have poor ones for non-payment or failure to send the advertising material which you provide.  We have therefore concentrated on the few schemes which we have joined and found to be successful and trustworthy.

penniesbyemail.com - Earn money for reading emailsPenniesbyEmail has a good reputation and feedback also suggests they do pay out for reading emails and clicking on adverts.  Points are awarded as well as cash for different links and emails - points can only be used to redeem against advertising which you promote through their system.

Mec-Co-Op Mail - get paid for advertising emails sent to youAnother similar scheme which seems just as reliable and provides plenty of emails for you to look at is Mec-Co-Op Paidmail.  This is another scheme which allows you to submit your own adverts fairly cheaply to be circulated to everyone on the mailing list and pays both cash as well as points.  They were running a points scheme as well as the cash scheme, but this has now been stopped (remaining points were converted to cash).

CashRead - Get paid to read email adverts plus $50 sign up bonus!!CashRead.com is another similar scheme, but offers a $50 sign-up bonus.  On the downside to this is the fact that the minimum withdrawal is a whopping $500.  You can however, use the amassed funds to pay for advertising either on the site or sent via email to its members (with adverts starting from $60, it is easy to be able to reach that amount and include your first adverts).  The is also the added bonus, that all links earn you a certain amount of cash and none of them are linked to points, which means that everything you earn can eventually be withdrawn.

You also have to ensure that you actually read these emails, as some of the PTR schemes send out regular emails which tell you NOT to click on the links - these emails are designed to check whether you are actually reading the emails and clicking on the links will cancel your account !!

Please note however, that these PTR systems do not provide you with a system of sending emails nor an email address to be used when signing up to other offers.    You are sent emails which contain links to various websites (you are paid for visiting the advertisers website, normally for a minimum amount of time on that site), and you can also earn further credits by clicking on advertising banners on the website.  The system does however, seem self perpetuating, in that the majority of sites which are advertised appear to be pay per click search engines and other PTR websites, as these are the cheapest to set up.  You can however, use your credit to submit your own adverts fairly cheaply to be circulated to everyone on the mailing list, or add banner adverts to the main website.

Unfortunately, the benefits of using this system to advertise to others depends very much on your website being sufficiently eye-catching to make visitors want to actually take notice of its content within the first few seconds.  We have found that we quickly became accustomed to simply opening the advertising links in another window and keeping them open just long enough to earn the credit for visiting the website without paying much attention to its content.

Overall View

Whether any of these schemes can make you money remains to be seen, but there is no harm in trying.  You must also remember that in order to earn anything from reading emails, you have to spend some time reading the email and clicking on links - you will not earn anything for simply deleting the emails.

You will never earn a living through any of these schemes, but anything is better than nothing.  There are much better ways of making money on the internet, and you should consider joining a variety of different schemes, especially if this is to form an extra revenue stream for your earnings.

We for one have decided that these Paid to Read Email schemes are not worth the extra emails received as you are unlikely to ever earn sufficient money to receive in cash and only ever be able to purchase more advertising.
