Completing consumer surveys seems a great way of working from home - you need to
spend a few minutes per survey completing forms and giving your opinions on new
products and possibly film trailers and books. In return for this, you may
receive cash, money off coupons and even competition entries (although
invariably, you end up just receiving more surveys to complete)..
 There are several companies on the internet who promise to offer you the chance
of earning £500 -£5000 per month through these programs, but you need to pay
them for the information on how to do this and links to the higher earning
websites. However, we have found that most of the information is available
for free and feel it unlikely that survey companies would insist on people
paying schemes to find out about their surveys, as this would dramatically
reduce the scope of people who were able to complete the surveys, plus there is
no guarantee that once you have paid your money, the information will be up to
date, or your email and contact details will be kept secret and not sold to
spammers. Many of
the survey companies are also aimed only at US/Canada residents, and therefore
if you are not from either of those countries, it is probably not worthwhile
paying for the information.
We would therefore urge you to steer clear of these schemes and have provided
several links below (together with details of our own experiences) direct to the
actual survey companies and none of these schemes require you to pay a fee to be
a part of their research panels. We do not promise that you will earn £450
a day completing surveys, or anything outrageous like that, and nor do we ask
you to provide us with any details - simply click through to one of the various
reputable survey companies and sign up direct. They will not make you a
millionaire overnight, but you can earn a steady stream of small payments and
other rewards for each survey you complete.
 There are quite a few other internet based reward programmes, which tend to be based on entering
competitions or completing regular surveys, both of which tend to increase the
amount of junk emails which are sent to you. They generally act as opt-in
schemes whereby you agree to receive emails aimed at your particular areas of
interest.
One of the largest of such programs is
MyOffers
which runs a wide range of competitions in return for you entering your details
into a range of surveys. This site is quite easy to use and remembers which
surveys you have already completed and often you do not need to enter anything
to enter another competition which is linked to the same survey - you can also
often avoid giving any details and will then avoid receiving large amounts of
additional email. MyOffers offers around 50 competitions per month to its members and have given
away 1,000's of prizes worth well over £700,000, from iPods to cars! We
have not been lucky to win anything yet, but we still enter the competitions
every month.

You can earn additional money through reviewing software and all types of
consumer goods on the site, for other members to read and rate. Ciao has been running for quite a few years and is well respected in this field
- it also appears to draw a wider variety of reviews than some of the other
sites, possibly as it has a wide range of international members.. The more time you are willing
to spend visiting this site and writing reviews for it, the more you can earn
from it.
 All of these opinion / survey
sites act as intermediaries, who are approached by companies wanting
to test new advertising, or to evaluate new products. You can be
paid typically between $2 and $30 per survey, normally dependent upon the length of
the actual survey and do not expect to pay out any money of your
own. Some surveys promise to pay out a prize of $500 or more, but we have
found that the more money that a survey offers, the less chance you have of
qualifying for the survey. The amount of money you can make from these
schemes is unlimited and depends on the amount of time you are willing to spend
taking surveys and reading your emails.
Typically people who are from an unusual group for internet research (eg.
silver surfers or those on exceptional incomes already), or who are in a family
stand to qualify for more surveys and can therefore earn more rewards, either in
the form of cash, prizes or points.
Certainly, if you intend earning
something from these schemes, you need to enlist in as many of the survey
programmes as possible, in order to ensure that you receive plenty of
invitations to complete surveys and earn money / win competitions.
We have provided a list of all of the internet survey programs
which we have been able to find. We have not made a fortune, but regularly
receive samples to test before completing a survey, or small thankyous (in the
form of chocolates or gift vouchers). Every penny helps I guess.
